Hola! I´m pretty sure this has been the longest week of my life. Mexico is crazy, I´m beyond exhausted, and I couldn´t be happier! The first time I saw Mexico City outside the plane window I was in complete awe. The city is bigger than I could have ever imagined. It was just a sea of buildings and people. I was a little overwhelmed at first, but I´m now more excited than ever to serve the people here. Life in the CCM has been...interesting. I didn´t get too much sleep my first couple night because of the crazy noises. It pretty much sounds like the police are constantly fighting off a huge pack of wild dogs all throughout the night. And I´m pretty sure the dogs were winning. Not only that, but fireworks go off ALL THE TIME. Our teacher told us that Mexicans just really love to party. Maybe they were celebrating their victory over the pack of wild dogs. Who knows. All I know is that Mexicans like to party, I like to party. Should be a fun 2 years! It definitely seems like a crazy world beyond, The Wall. That´s what we all call it here. There´s basically a huge wall that surrounds the 90 acre campus with really big, scary razor wire at the top in some areas. The leaders always tell us how safe we are, but I´m always thinking that in 5 weeks I´m going to go...beyond The Wall (gasp!). It doesn't really help that our teacher told us our mission has some of the worst parts of the city. He even said that their motto is ´They kill for free.´ Sounds pretty fun. Besides, I´m a lot more worried about the crazy virus that went around campus the past few days. I was the only one in our room who didn´t get hit by total bowel warfare. My companion Elder Gardner, who is beyond amazing and the coolest guy ever, got reeaaalllly sick for a couple of days. It was hard to watch and I felt absolutely terrible. Since everyone was sick, I had three different companionships. It was an interesting experience. After how much I usually get sick at home, I never expected to be the lone survivor. Maybe I´m being spared for a worst fate later. Who knows. It´s Mexico! I think I´m learning that anything can happen in Mexico. Anyway, I love it here at the CCM! The leaders here are incredibly helpful and full of love. The second counselor of the CCM presidency, President Call, set me apart on Tuesday. I know, it was almost a week before I was an official missionary. That night after being set apart we had a zone discussion over devotional and multiple missionaries explained how they didn´t think they could last a week here at the CCM without being set apart. They focused on how it wouldn´t be possible without the Lord´s help, which is totally true. But, I just had to raise my hand and say how lucky I was to be set apart today because tomorrow would be a week. I thought it was funny, but most people looked confused and concerned. Understandably so I guess. My district is amazing, too. They other missionaries are all hilarious and enthusiastic about the work. The Spirit here is so strong and I love learning Spanish and more about the Gospel. Teaching for the first time in Spanish was interesting, but I now it´ll get better. The Latino missionaries are amazing at helping out. They are just so happy and caring all the time. I love getting to know them. It really makes me excited for the opportunity to teach these people. Well, I wrote a lot more than I thought I would and I´m sorry, but the longest week of my life is bound to have a lot going on. I couldn´t be happier with my decision to serve and I love how much closer I´m becoming to my Heavenly Father already. It has been a long week, but it´s worth the work. Matthew 10:39 has definitely been a them for this week. I love all of you. Stay classy, shoot some fireworks, and I´ll talk to you again soon! abrazos y besos, Elder Foust
